Privacy Policy

im.ai is built on a simple principle: your conversations are yours. We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal information.

Last updated: March 2026

The short version

im.ai does not collect any personal data. We have no analytics, no crash reporters, no advertising identifiers, and no user accounts. Local model conversations never leave your device. Period.

Information We Collect

None. im.ai does not collect, process, or store any personal information about you. There is no registration, no account, and no profile.

We do not use analytics SDKs, crash-reporting services, advertising networks, or any third-party tracking libraries.

Local Model Conversations

When you use im.ai with a local model (powered by llama.cpp), your conversations are processed entirely on your device. No data is transmitted to any server — not to us, not to anyone.

Cloud Provider Conversations

When you choose to connect to a cloud AI provider (Google Gemini, Groq, OpenRouter, Cerebras, or GitHub Models), your messages are sent directly from your device to that provider's API using your own API key.

im.ai is not a proxy. We do not see, log, or retain any of these messages. The data you send to a cloud provider is governed by that provider's own privacy policy. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any provider you choose to use.

API Keys

API keys you enter are stored securely in the iOS/macOS Keychain on your device. They are never transmitted to im.ai servers (which do not exist).

Device Permissions

im.ai may request access to the following only when you explicitly trigger related features:

No camera, microphone, contacts, location, or photo library access is requested or used.

Model Downloads

When you download a model, im.ai connects to the model's distribution source (typically Hugging Face or similar public repositories) to retrieve the model file. This connection is made directly from your device. We do not track which models you download.

Children's Privacy

im.ai does not knowingly collect any information from children under the age of 13. The app does not contain features directed at children.

Changes to This Policy

If we ever change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Any future changes will remain consistent with our core commitment: we do not collect your personal data.
